What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. This means you share in the joys of farm fresh produce and help defray some of the risk of farming. Members of the farm pledge in advance to cover the anticipated costs of the farm operation and farmer’s salary. In return, they receive shares in the farm’s bounty during the growing season, and they gain the satisfaction of reconnecting to those who grow food and the earth in which it is grown. Members also share in the risks, including poor harvests due to unfavorable weather or pests (we call them the “10 plagues”).
THE GROWING SEASON
Weekly harvest begins in April and continues through the October. There are 29 harvests during our season. In addition tothe regular harvest we offer a cornecopia just before Thanksgiving for a reasonable price.
DISTRIBUTION OF PRODUCE
We will harvest the produce weekly. Each week your share will contain 7 – 15 varieties of vegetables and fruit. You have the option of Monday or Thursday pick-up. We reserve the right to place you on either day if needed to even out the harvest. We ask that you keep the same harvest day throughout the season. Members will self-serve pick-up at the farm anytime from 8 am to 8 pm. Each share comes with the weekly newsletter and recipes. On this website we have over 200 recipes, photos of the farm and events, weekly updates, and member comments. Much of our communication with members is done by email.
